Skin Care

We live in Colorado, our skin is always dry, even in the summer. Tanning will dry our skin, indoors or out, and we muct protect and provide for our skin. Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize.

When tanning, lotion is very important for getting and keeping a great tan. Cells in our epidermis (the germinative layer) are constantly reproducing and pushing older cells upward towards the horny layer (the top layer where we can SEE the dead cells). As the dead epidermis is sloughed off we are loosing color. Moist skin tans easier than dry skin. Picture if you will, UV light hitting dead skin cells, the light practicaly bounces off, as the dead cells are non-absorbent. Moist skin allows UV light to penetrate and be absorbed.

When we are exposed to ultraviolet B light, a percentage of cells (about 5%) produce melanin. (This is the pigment which is responsible for our tan.) When we are exposed to ultraviolet A light, the melanin darkens or oxidizes. This darkening is your skin's way of protecting itself against too much UV light.

If you are in need of a great moisturizing lotion that keeps your skin moist, honestly, from sunup till sundown, talk to us, we have a terrific lotion that we highly recommend and will not cost you "an arm and a leg". And, as always, we understand that not only are we all different, but so is our skin, and the same products don't always work for everyone. Ask us, we'll be glad to help!

We always recommend that, outside, in this great state of Colorado, we should always wear sunblock.
